Browser extension
The Broadsheet Chrome extension is the fastest way to save articles. One click — or one keyboard shortcut — and the page you're reading is in your library.
Install
Get it from the Chrome Web Store. Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers.
After installing, pin the Broadsheet icon to your toolbar so it's one click away.
Open the extension popup and sign in. The extension uses the same account as the web app — one sign-in gets you both.
Save the current tab
- Click the Broadsheet icon in your toolbar, or
- Press
⌘⇧Son macOS /Ctrl+Shift+Son Windows/Linux.
You'll see a confirmation that the article saved. Open the web app any time to read it.
Customising the shortcut
If ⌘⇧S / Ctrl+Shift+S conflicts with another extension, rebind it:
- Open
chrome://extensions/shortcutsin Chrome. - Find Broadsheet and set a new shortcut.
Troubleshooting
- "Not signed in" — open the extension popup and sign in. Cookies must be enabled for
marginalutility.dev. - "Couldn't extract article" — the page may be paywalled, login-gated, or not article-shaped. Broadsheet works best on news, blog, and long-form content.
- Nothing happens when I press the shortcut — another extension may have claimed it. Check
chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
