Settings reference
Open Barred's settings from the menu bar icon → Settings....
The settings window has three tabs: Menu bar items, General, and About.
Menu bar items
A live, read-only list of every menu bar item Barred has detected, grouped into Visible and Hidden sections.
This tab is a diagnostic view — use it to confirm that Barred can see a specific app's status item. Items are added and removed automatically as apps launch and quit. Rearranging still happens in the menu bar itself via ⌘-drag.
If Accessibility permission hasn't been granted yet, this tab shows the onboarding prompt instead.
General
| Setting | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Launch at login | Start Barred automatically when you log in. Uses SMAppService under the hood. | Off |
| Show Barred bar on click | When on, clicking the Barred divider toggles the hidden section. | On |
| Auto-hide delay | How long (in seconds) the hidden section stays expanded before collapsing again. Range: 1–15s. | 5s |
That's the full set of preferences. Barred intentionally keeps configuration minimal.
